Natural Treatments for Eczema

We know that there are creams and ointments available to treat eczema. But did you know that there are products made of natural ingredients? You can find some made from herbal extracts of chamomile, liquorice and witch hazel.

But before you try any topical herbal product, check first with your doctor if it is safe for you to use because some herbs like chamomile may cause dermatitis.

Natural ñ herbal and antioxidants
The herbal approach to treating the symptoms of eczema are generally milder and gives little or no side effects. There are many herbs known to be beneficial to anyone suffering from the skin disease. Such herbs may be used as teas, tinctures and topical treatments. They can either be used alone or in combination, to boost the potency. Some of the herbs used for treating eczema include:
* St. Johnís Wort
* Chamomile
* Chickweed
* Yarrow
* Nettle
* Licorice
Antioxidants are also great natural eczema treatment, as they are for many other skin diseases. For instance, Sea Buckthorn and Grape seed oils contain loads of antioxidants such as selenium, beta carotene and vitamins A, C and E.

However, watch out for a connection to any allergy you may have. For example, some fruits share the same biological make up as the plants and trees that produce natural sap for rubber. If you do have a sensitivity to latex, then eating fruit with the connections to the rubber producing plants may set off an internal reaction that may show as a flare up of eczema.

Always check with your doctor or dietician before making drastic changes to your diet.
